Central California receives almost all of the remaining 30%. Southern California is where a majority of the people are. Most of their water comes from the rest of California. Only a small percentage is acquired from Colorado. My point is that you should not be angry at every corner of California since not every corner takes water from your state. Bush territory as red. This red state, blue state nomenclature stuck because the election took so long to resolve. The reason the news organizations chose these colors may be because Gore chose blue for his campaign color while Bush chose red. And it makes perfect sense that Gore would not choose red. Red is the color of the socialist and communist parties in Europe. Gore was trying to show he believed in capitalism (and "power to the people") not socialism and the far left. The distinction might be hard to notice for a lot of Republicans but Democrats don't see themselves as socialistic.
